Gain
new insights into both the extraordinary accomplishments and everyday
lives of Orville and Wilbur Wright at the Wright State University
Wright Archives.
The Wright Brothers Collection—located in Special Collections and Archives
at the Paul Laurence Dunbar Library at Wright State University—is one of the
most complete records of the lives and works of Wilbur and Orville Wright outside
of Washington, D.C. In fact, the artifacts in this collection complement those
held by the Library of
Congress.
At the Wright Archives, you'll have access to over 6,000 items, including more
than 200 technical books, journals and pamphlets accumulated by the Wright Brothers
themselves. You'll also find more than 500 items related to the Wright Brothers'
research, business and legal matters. What's more, you can also see the papers
and diaries of Orville and Wilbur's father, Bishop Milton Wright, as well as
more than one thousand genealogical items gathered by Orville and his father.
Of special interest to historians and aviation enthusiasts: Nearly 4,000 photographs
that provide a visual record of the invention of powered flight, along with the
lives of the Wright family.
Also within Special Collections and Archives you'll find more than forty collections
relating to the Wright brothers, including the papers and photographs of Ivonette
Miller Wright, the Wright Memorial Commission records, the Glenn Curtiss Aviation
Photograph Collection, the Andrew Iddings/Wright Brothers Homecoming Photograph
Collection, the Charles E. Taylor Research Collection, and more.
For one of the most complete and essential collections for the study of Orville
and Wilbur Wright and their accomplishments, be sure to visit the Wright Brothers
